About The Position

The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is a required management position under 14 CFR Part 119 and serves as the individual responsible for the administration, supervision, and regulatory compliance of the certificate holder's maintenance program. The DOM has overall authority and responsibility for ensuring the continued airworthiness of company aircraft operated under Part 135 and for maintaining compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Operations Specifications (OpSpecs), manufacturer requirements, and company policies. The Director of Maintenance serves as the primary point of contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding maintenance matters and must be approved by the FAA as management personnel for the certificate holder.

Requirements

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
• Meets qualification requirements for Director of Maintenance under 14 CFR Part 119.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining aircraft operated under Part 135, Part 121, military, or equivalent aviation operations.
• Minimum three (3) years of management or supervisory experience involving aircraft maintenance programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FAA regulations, maintenance inspection programs, and airworthiness requirements.
• Experience interacting directly with FAA inspectors and regulatory officials.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Inspection Authorization (IA).
• Previous FAA-approved Director of Maintenance experience for a Part 135 certificate holder.
• Experience administering Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Programs (CAMP).
• Experience with maintenance tracking software such as CAMP, Flightdocs, Corridor, Traxxall, or similar platforms.
• Experience with turbine-powered aircraft and business aviation fleets

Responsibilities

• Ensure all aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition and released for service in accordance with applicable FAA regulations.
• Maintain compliance with 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, 91, 119, and 135, as well as all applicable Operations Specifications.
• Develop, implement, and oversee the company's FAA-approved maintenance inspection program.
• Ensure compliance with Airworthiness Directives (ADs), mandatory inspections, life-limited components, service bulletins, and manufacturer's maintenance requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
• Maintain responsibility for aircraft maintenance records, technical documentation, and regulatory record retention requirements.
• Ensure discrepancies are properly documented, corrected, and tracked through completion.
• Administer and continuously improve the company's maintenance program and associated procedures.
• Oversee maintenance tracking systems and ensure inspection intervals, component times, and maintenance events are accurately monitored.
• Establish maintenance planning schedules to support operational readiness and fleet availability.
• Manage maintenance vendors, FAA-certificated repair stations, contractors, and maintenance service providers.
• Review maintenance events and identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Serve as the principal maintenance liaison with the FAA Certificate Management Team (CMT).
• Participate in FAA audits, inspections, surveillance activities, and certification actions.
• Coordinate responses to FAA findings, corrective action plans, and regulatory inquiries.
• Ensure all maintenance-related manuals remain current and compliant with FAA requirements.
• Assist with revisions to General Maintenance Manuals (GMM), CAMP programs, and related documentation as required.
• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Ensure maintenance personnel possess appropriate qualifications, certifications, and training.
• Promote a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and professionalism throughout the maintenance organization.
• Support company Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives and risk management processes.
• Participate in management meetings and operational planning activities.
• Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets.
• Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify cost-control opportunities without compromising safety or compliance.
• Manage aircraft maintenance reserves, engine programs, component programs, warranties, and vendor agreements.
• Evaluate and recommend maintenance-related capital expenditures.
