The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is a required management position under 14 CFR Part 119 and serves as the individual responsible for the administration, supervision, and regulatory compliance of the certificate holder's maintenance program. The DOM has overall authority and responsibility for ensuring the continued airworthiness of company aircraft operated under Part 135 and for maintaining compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Operations Specifications (OpSpecs), manufacturer requirements, and company policies. The Director of Maintenance serves as the primary point of contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding maintenance matters and must be approved by the FAA as management personnel for the certificate holder.
