About The Position

On December 17, 2025, FlyHouse completed the acquisition of Sun Air Jets. As you join the Sun Air Jets team, you are now part of the House. The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for all company aircraft maintenance activities and is accountable for the effectiveness of the maintenance program. The role has ultimate authority over and control of the resources to implement and enforce policies. The Director of Maintenance shall meet the requirements of 14 CFR 119.71 (e).

Requirements

  • FAA-qualified under 14 CFR Part 119/135 for Director of Maintenance
  • 10 years of experience progressive aircraft maintenance experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Minimum 1 year of experience within the past 6 years in a role responsible for returning aircraft to service
  • A&P Certificate (Airframe & Powerplant) required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 135, 91, and 43
  • Proven experience ensuring aircraft airworthiness and regulatory compliance
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain FAA approval as Director of Maintenance
  • Participation in the Company’s driving program is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, meet Company insurance requirements, and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks, DOT drug screen and other pre-employment screenings
  • Ability to travel as needed to support fleet maintenance and operational needs
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including after-hours support when required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with turbine aircraft, preferably within a mixed or large cabin fleet (e.g., Gulfstream, Citation, Global)
  • Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems (e.g., CAMP, Corridor, Flightdocs)
  • Experience coordinating with Part 145 repair stations, OEMs, and vendors
  • Working knowledge of MEL/CDL, ADs, SBs, and inspection programs
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to oversee maintenance personnel and vendors
  • Ability to manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including AOG response
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain a General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and maintenance programs
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to interface with FAA inspectors and internal stakeholders
  • Experience supporting or integrating Safety Management Systems (SMS)

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that company aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition, meeting the aircraft type design and in a condition for safe flight.
  • Ensures that all inspections, repairs, and component changes are accomplished in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions or FAA acceptable data.
  • Ensures compliance with maintenance procedures, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Responsible for the adequate staffing of technicians for the work load, as well as disciplining and terminating of maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures all maintenance technicians are trained and current on the types of aircraft they work on.
  • Ensures that all maintenance technicians are certified and supervised according to the requirements specified in the Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Ensures that the facility, tools, and equipment are all adequate for the scope and detail of the work being performed.
  • Coordinates with maintenance contracting agencies when maintenance activities are being performed on Company aircraft.
  • Provides the Flight Department Manager with the current airworthiness status of the aircraft and the forecast down times to facilitate maintenance scheduling and insure timely deferral of correction of aircraft discrepancies.
  • Maintains a close liaison with manufacturer’s representatives, parts supply houses, repair facilities and the FAA.
  • Purchase articles to be used on the aircraft from reputable vendors and to maintain a relationship with the vendors used regularly by Sun Air Jets.
  • Makes available to maintenance personnel the necessary aircraft/engine maintenance manuals, overhaul manuals, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, applicable sections of this manual, and any other required technical data.
  • Maintains all necessary work records and logbooks, including certification in the aircraft permanent maintenance records that the aircraft is approved for return to service.
  • Maintains the weight and balance records for all aircraft.
  • Completes the required Service Difficulty Reports (SAJSDR) and Mechanical Interruption Summary (SAJMIS) reports and submits them to the FAA Administrator.
  • Oversee the Continuous Analysis and Surveillance program making any adjustments to the maintenance and inspection programs to make them more efficient and safe.
  • Supply the accounting department with a budget and cost analysis of the maintenance department, and to provide financial data regarding the aircraft and their operation.
