About The Position

In close partnership with school leaders and coaches, the Director of Literacy Intervention role builds capacity to execute strong data cycles, implement evidence-based literacy practices, and strengthen Tier 2 and 3 instruction through coaching, walkthroughs, and MTSS coordination. The role also ensures coherence by aligning internal teams and external partners, including managing key vendors and grant-funded initiatives to deliver targeted, needs-based support to the literacy team and schools. As a Director, this position must also ensure adherence to established internal control policies and procedures and maintain compliance within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certificate of LETRS completion (or comparable advanced course work in the science of reading)
  • Minimum of two years of school leadership experience
  • Minimum of five years of lead teaching experience in a PK-12 setting

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and management of effective data-driven literacy instruction across the region.
  • Design and deliver high-quality professional development for teachers, coaches, and leaders in research-based literacy instruction and intervention.
  • Manage the communication and administration of literacy benchmark and progress monitoring assessments
  • Collaborate with internal teams to collect, report and analyze student data, identify trends and inform academic decision making.
  • Develop and maintain a robust infrastructure for implementing and managing intervention, including tools, grouping strategies, and systems support.
  • Build leader and teacher capacity in executing effective data cycles and supporting teacher implementation of literacy interventions.
  • Participate in school walkthroughs of tier 2 and 3 instruction to collaborate with instructional leaders to gather data and inform development.
  • Identify and scale effective literacy practices and interventions across the district.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly professional learning for school based elementary and middle school literacy interventionists.
  • Coach MTSS-Literacy Interventionists to effectively implement research based literacy interventions.
  • Coach MTSS-Literacy Interventionists to effectively drive school based MTSS cycles.
  • Act as point of contact and contract lead for external vendors providing literacy assessments, professional development, curriculum and/or tutoring.
  • Manage Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant through Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
