About The Position

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a seasoned legal professional to serve as its Director of Legal Services/General Counsel. This role is responsible for managing a broad range of complex legal issues and guiding the organization. The ideal candidate will be skilled in local government law, compliance, and regulatory matters, experienced in managing outside counsel and legal budgets, and a collaborative leader who can engage with an executive team and Board of Directors. The position reports to the Executive Director/General Manager and oversees all legal services for the District, with a primary focus on managing external legal counsel relationships and ensuring efficient, cost-effective legal matter resolution. The candidate should possess a full breadth of legal knowledge across water, wastewater, and solid waste operations.

Requirements

Licensed to practice law in Texas, or ability to obtain Texas State Bar within three months of hire.
Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from an accredited law school.
Minimum 15 years of legal experience.
At least 5 years of experience in Texas local government law.
Experience managing outside counsel.
