About The Position

The Director of Leagues oversees the effective operation of league processes, systems, and resources. The role leads league operations, logistics, facilities, and community relationships while fostering a Christ-centered environment that promotes spiritual growth alongside athletic excellence. The Director helps grow league participation and offerings through outreach and relationship-building, and develops athletes’ skills and spiritual lives within a community grounded in Christian values. This position combines sports management with ministry. The Director builds organized, trusted, purposeful league environments; develops coaches and leaders; empowers volunteers; connects families; and uses sport as a platform for relationships, spiritual conversations, discipleship, and lasting impact. The role also includes ministerial responsibilities: affirming and abiding by FCA’s Christian Community, maintaining a spiritual rhythm that includes prayer and Bible study, providing spiritual leadership through prayer, Bible study, worship, and example, participating in a local church through worship and weekly involvement, and conducting oneself in accordance with FCA’s stated Christian beliefs.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain a league calendar covering evaluations, practices, games, camps, and other ministry opportunities.
Train and develop coaches by modeling, assisting, observing, launching them into their roles, and establishing mentorship and assistant coaching opportunities.
Supervise tryouts, practices, and games to ensure sport and ministry excellence.
Provide quality communication and ministry to parents.
Market leagues and recruit families and athletes.
Address and resolve conflicts as needed.
Coordinate with facility contacts regarding usage protocols.
Develop and maintain relationships with staff members of local churches and integrate church involvement to support ministry beyond the sports season.
Complete FCA administration requirements for registration, coach onboarding, financial stewardship, and training.
Register leagues in FCAOne and ensure training and implementation of the Sports Connect League Management System.
Oversee coach and volunteer onboarding through the Player’s Health platform.
Manage league financial operations.
Organize evaluations, coach and referee training, practices, games, end-of-season tournaments, and celebration events.
Coordinate procurement and distribution of uniforms and equipment, including ordering uniforms and coaches’ gear through the FCA Gear specialist.
Secure training and competition facilities by coordinating contracts, leases, and facility plans with the Support Center and appropriate FCA supervisors.
Recruit, qualify, train, and develop coaches and expand the league team with people supporting administration, marketing, coach training, parent ministry, and other needs.
Develop personal, staff, and coach capabilities in discipleship and sport using FCA resources and external conferences and materials.
Develop future league leaders who can assume the Director’s role and other key leadership positions as needed.
Foster a culture of serving others and build a community of coaches committed to growing, sharing, celebrating, and gathering around their sport.
Implement the E3 Strategy for coaches, athletes, and parents, and lead discipleship and development opportunities for coaches, athletes, and families.
Connect with, communicate with, and care for existing and prospective financial partners to support full funding.
Manage and steward finances for the assigned area, and establish and execute an annual budget and funding plan through the Home Team, major donors, and events.
Invite prospective donors to support the league financially.
Build a league leadership board to assist with prayer, sponsorship and donor outreach, conflict resolution, marketing, and other leadership needs.
Create fundraising opportunities for players and families and consistently connect with, communicate with, and care for donors and board members.
Maintain a spiritual rhythm that includes daily prayer and Bible study, participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement, and conduct oneself in accordance with FCA’s Christian beliefs.
