The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for both administrative and clinical services within the laboratory. This includes managing budgets, financial resources, marketing, strategic planning, and fostering cooperative relations with other GRH services. Clinically, the role involves managing employees and resources, upholding standards of practice, and evaluating care and services. The Director will lead, mentor, and support staff, providing professional development opportunities. They will also serve as a liaison with Medical Directors and physicians, and continuously improve operational processes. A key aspect of the role is guiding staff development, acting as a role model, and providing constructive coaching. The Director must stay informed about relevant laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance and recommending actions as needed. Creativity and innovation in service delivery are encouraged, as is maintaining fairness and professionalism in relationships. Participation in professional organizations and community projects is expected for professional development and positive representation of GRH. Maintaining current professional expertise and promoting growth among colleagues are also essential. The role requires balancing team and individual responsibilities, being open to feedback, and contributing to team goals. Additionally, the Director will monitor inventory to ensure staff have necessary supplies and equipment, manage staff through training, evaluation, and hiring/termination processes, and ensure quality control through equipment checks and maintenance. Finally, the Director is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient patient care delivery to meet patient experience expectations.
