About The Position

The Director assists the Chief and Deputy Chiefs of the Adams County Department of Probation Services in fostering a long-term vision and mission that guides the direction, administration, and coordination of the Department of Probation Services operations. The Director has direct operational responsibility for an assigned Probation Services unit, consisting of staff and programs. This Director position supervises Juvenile Probation Services; therefore, experience with juvenile justice is highly preferred.

Requirements

Verification of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of modern principles of criminology.
A minimum of three years’ experience in probation services.
Working knowledge of courts, corrections, and/or law enforcement.
Working knowledge of county, state, and federal government.
Ability to understand the interrelationship of these various levels of government.
After hire, obtaining/maintaining certification in Protective Safety Systems and Firearms certification.
After hire, annual completion of 40 hours of training per PCCD and/or JCJC requirements.
Valid driver’s license.
General knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Participation in training provided by the employer is expected.
Knowledge of contemporary office practices and procedures.
Subject to the Medical Marijuana Act, 35 P.S. § 10231.510(4), which prohibits an employee from being under the influence of medical marijuana in performance of duties within this job description.
Subject to Act 57 of 2020 background checks and employment reporting.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field.
Experience with juvenile justice.
