About The Position

The Director of IT will oversee the technical operations of the construction business, ensuring all systems and applications support our field and office goals. This role is responsible for the "boots on the ground" management of hardware, security, and internal software, while acting as the primary liaison with our external help desk (Athens Micro). C.A. Murren is a full-service, well-established industrial, civil, and power industry contractor performing work throughout the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States, with offices in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia. We are seeking a Director of IT with 10+ years of experience. This position is based out of our Grayson, GA office.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience in technical operations, infrastructure management, or a similar role.
  • Experience in Federal, DOD, and DOE compliance, including CMMC certifications.
  • Experience and comfort in communicating and negotiating with C-Level Executives.
  • The ability to speak IT to end users that may not speak IT.
  • 10+ years’ experience organizing, leading, and developing people within successful teams.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program
  • Subject to a background screening process

Responsibilities

  • Vendor & Help Desk Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Managed Service Provider, reviewing help desk tickets to identify recurring technical issues or training gaps.
  • Evaluate and select technology vendors, managing relationships and negotiating contracts to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Asset & Budget Oversight
  • Verify that all hardware and equipment purchases are technically sound and suited for specific construction environments.
  • Implement a robust asset tracking system for all company hardware and software licenses.
  • Develop and monitor the annual IT budget, tracking expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Security & Compliance
  • Assess security threats and maintain robust measures to protect sensitive company and project data.
  • Lead CMMC certification efforts and ensure compliance with Federal, DOD, and DOE standards.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends and evaluate their potential for improving operational efficiency.
  • Information Technology & Systems
  • Establish and enforce SOPs to streamline technical operations and ensure consistent performance.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and lead resolution efforts to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Field Connectivity: Ensure superintendents and field crews have reliable data access on-site, including the deployment and maintenance of mobile hotspots and ruggedized hardware.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to minimize downtime for field operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define operational metrics, track performance, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Software & Training
  • Manage and provide internal support for the company’s core software stack, including project management and estimating suites (HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid, Primavera P6), contract management platforms (ContractSafe), accounting packages (Viewpoint Vista) and standard enterprise tools (Windows, Microsoft 365/Office).
  • Identify team training needs and lead educational sessions to ensure employees are proficient in company software.

  • Lead the company’s technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networking systems, servers, storage systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Develop strategy alongside our outside IT company, as it relates to the organization's IT infrastructure (computer and information systems, security, communication systems).
  • Lead CMMC certification and manage projects related to the implementation of new systems and technologies, in line with organizational objectives.
  • Create processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems, identifying vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze technology and trends that could improve the company’s processes and performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and negotiating contracts for services.
  • Identify opportunities for team training and skills advancement.
  • Collaboration with Senior Team for 1-5 year company vision, strategy, and goals.
