About The Position

Management and administration of merchandise inventory. Optimize “in-business” position while reducing overstocks and liquidating discontinued merchandise. Manage capital invested in inventory to a level that supports sales, increases turns, and positions company for growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher plus three to five years retail operations experience.
  • Inventory management, forecasting, or related experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of inventory related software; Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel).
  • Requires excellent communications skills (listening and speaking), mental/visual applications for administrative work and the ability to successfully handle all or a number of job functions, at or about the same time, and be able to prioritize.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an “open-to-buy” system in concert with buyers.
  • Takes active role in product reviews, participates in stock item discussions.
  • Visits stores to ensure replenishment is efficient and effective.
  • Manages capital investment in inventory to optimize both in-business position and turn-over of goods.
  • Publishes replenishment calendars and schedules indicating review date and frequency of review for every continuity supplier. This includes supplier direct to store, supplier direct to distribution centers, and distribution center to store products.
  • Administers all vendor direct purchases to stores, other than SLE items, including the monitoring and adjusting of replenishment as necessary.
  • Coordination with buyers and operations on all product needs to determine necessary improvements to replenishment processes.
  • Maintains real time supplier contacts listing, inclusive of minimum shipping needs of each.
  • Coordinates all distribution center replenishment to the stores once buyers determine products are ready for distribution.
  • Coordinates all merchandise purchases for new stores.
  • Reviews all merchandise distributions from distribution centers to stores, correcting as justified.
  • Forecast needs to support marketing schedule and orders goods to ensure in-business position.
  • Recommends inter-store transfers to reduce excess on-hand quantities and to balance goods as needed.
  • Teaming truckload vendors to reduce lead-times.
  • Managing goods in short supply in concert with buyers.
  • Production and distribution of daily and weekly replenishment reports including the inbound and out of stock reports.
  • Coordinates moving through obsolete or aged goods in the distribution centers.
  • Monitoring all goods in distribution centers to be certain pushes are working properly, and items are turned on for future replenishment.
  • Managing and maintaining all existing system products including the creation of new stock items.
  • Supervises Inventory & Replenishment Assistants.
  • All other duties as assigned.
