About The Position

The University of Olivet, a liberal arts institution with an historical commitment to inclusion, diversity, and social justice, seeks a Program Director for our nationally-ranked Insurance and Risk Management Program. This position is a tenure-track faculty position at the University. The program serves undergraduate and graduate students both on-campus in Olivet, Michigan and online globally. This position has primary assignment in the on-campus undergraduate programs located in Olivet, Michigan. Instruction in the areas of insurance and risk management expected; instruction in the area of financial planning also possible. Opportunities to teach at the graduate level as well as in our online degree completion program are possible. Hires at other ranks may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications. Students from underrepresented minorities constitute 26% of the current student body, with almost 20% of the student body identifying as African American. Approximately half of the student body is Pell grant eligible. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • MBA or graduate degree in business-related field required.
  • Industry experience in insurance and/or risk management is required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to teaching and mentoring students in an inclusive, ethnically diverse environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned doctorate in Business or related field is desired.
  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating problem-based and solution-oriented approaches to teaching and to scholarship that center the perspectives of historically disadvantaged or underrepresented communities.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct a broad range of undergraduate courses in insurance-related areas as well as instruct other courses within the university’s business department as needed.
  • Advising and mentoring students, including working closely with the active Gamma Iota Sigma chapter on campus for students interested in careers in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science.
  • Engage in scholarly activities.
  • Support the university and its mission through departmental and university committee participation, program and curriculum development, and other service.
