About The Position

Since 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has provided high-quality, community-based youth development services to youth in San Francisco. Requirements

7+ years of institutional fundraising, grant management, or non-profit development experience, with at least 3+ years managing public/government contracts (SFUSD, city, state, or federal)
2+ years of direct supervisory experience leading development or grant writing staff
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent professional experience
Proven track record of securing multi-year six figures from private foundations and public agencies
Demonstrated experience partnering with Finance teams on budget development, revenue reconciliation, and grant compliance
Advanced proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce strongly preferred)
Exceptional written communication, persuasive grant-writing skills, and relationship-management abilities
Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods.
Must be able to move about to attend meetings, conduct site tours across Clubhouses, and attend external partner events.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

Oversees funding strategies for key government and foundation sources in close partnership with the VP of Institutional Gifts.
Manages a multi-year portfolio of critical public contracts and private grants, providing strategic and operational leadership across the full grants lifecycle—from proposal development to project implementation and reporting.
Supervises the Grants Manager.
Builds strong external relationships with government agencies, city departments, foundations, and nonprofit partners.
Drives cross-departmental coordination across Executive, Program, Finance, and Outcomes teams.
Develops and executes a streamlined process to lead the government grants portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and program priorities.
Owns SFUSD fundraising components, providing guidance and oversight to internal teams.
Partners with the President and Director of Advocacy & Government Relations to engage in public/citywide meetings, increase organizational visibility, influence policy, and foster informal coalitions.
Collaborates with the Director of Advocacy & Government Relations and city department leaders to streamline government grant administration.
Directs weekly cross-departmental SYNC meetings to review grant statuses, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure full alignment with the Finance Department.
Manages a portfolio of major foundation donors, developing cultivation and solicitation strategies for multi-year funding and gift growth.
Conducts face-to-face donor visits and site tours for institutional funders.
Drives donor stewardship in partnership with the Senior Director of Major Gifts & Donor Relations and the President; supports capacity and capital campaigns.
Partners with the Outcomes Team to ensure high-integrity tracking of youth participation against grant objectives.
Collaborates with Clubhouse/program staff on grant deliverables and partners with Finance to build grant budgets and a centralized annual program budget bank.
Proactively identifies and cultivates city, state, federal, foundation, and capital funding opportunities to expand the diversified grant pipeline.
Builds strategic relationships with institutional partners to identify opportunities ahead of formal solicitations.
Leads the drafting and submission of select competitive grant proposals and supporting materials.
Secures capital funding for Camp Mendocino and Clubhouse projects that enhance program quality, safety, capacity, or cost-efficiency.
Partners with Marketing to align messaging, share digital assets, and produce compelling stewardship materials.
Supervises, guides, and evaluates the performance of the Grants Manager.
Oversees quality control of the monthly Institutional Gifts dashboard and leads monthly team check-ins.
Maximizes Salesforce CRM reporting and maintains alignment between Salesforce and Oracle NetSuite (ERP).
Co-leads reports and strategic discussions for the Board Resource Development Committee and Foundation Task Force.
