About The Position

The Director of IT will be a key leader, responsible for setting the technology strategy and managing the entire IT function across all company divisions and locations. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and exceptional leadership skills to manage a geographically dispersed team and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure supporting core manufacturing operations

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 3 years in a Director or Senior Management role.
  • Industry Background: Must have prior experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally one with multi-site or multi-company operations.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience managing complex, distributed network environments (WAN/LAN/VPN), cloud services (Azure/AWS), virtualization, and modern cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in leading and managing remote or multi-location IT teams, including managing effective off-hours maintenance and support schedules.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications like PMP, ITIL, CISSP is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year IT strategy that aligns with the overall business goals, including M&A integration and operational growth.
  • Budget Management: Own and manage the overall IT budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments and vendor management.
  • Risk Management: Establish and oversee IT governance, security policies, and business continuity plans (BCP) focused on maintaining maximum uptime during operational windows and coordinating system maintenance outside of core production hours.
  • Core Systems: Lead the optimization, maintenance, and potential migration/consolidation of core business applications to ensure seamless integration and data flow across the multi-company structure.
  • System Reliability: Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all enterprise-wide systems, networks, and data centers (on-premise and cloud-based) during scheduled shifts.
  • Geographic Infrastructure: Oversee network architecture, connectivity, and hardware management across all multi-state manufacturing sites and corporate offices, addressing the unique needs of each facility.
  • Planned Maintenance: Coordinate all necessary system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to occur outside of regular operational hours to minimize disruption to manufacturing processes.
  • Operational Technology (OT): Bridge the gap between IT and OT, supporting manufacturing plant floor systems, IoT devices, and maintaining network stability for critical production equipment during scheduled operation times.
  • Dispersed Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a geographically dispersed team of IT professionals (including infrastructure, application support, and help desk) across multiple states.
  • Performance Management: Define team goals, conduct performance reviews, and implement professional development plans to build a high-performing, customer-service-oriented IT organization.
  • On-Call Structure: Implement and manage an effective on-call support rotation to rapidly address critical issues that may occur outside of standard hours, especially those that could impact the start of the next shift.
  • Collaboration: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, clear communication, and strong partnership between the IT team and business unit leaders/end-users.
