About The Position

Canyon Vista Medical Center is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network. As a Hospital Information Technology & Systems Director (HDIS), you will be responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and continuous improvement of information technology services within Canyon Vista Medical Center. This role ensures local IT operations align with enterprise-wide strategies, regulatory requirements, and best practices, while supporting clinical, operational, and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with system-level IT leadership, hospital executives, and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field required, or 7+ years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT management experience, with at least 3 years in healthcare and multi-site or enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrates experience with hospital IT operations, EHR systems, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and project management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills; ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, and enterprise teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and IT staff development.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in healthcare IT.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison between hospital leadership and enterprise IT, ensuring local needs are represented in system-wide planning and that enterprise strategies are effectively implemented at the facility level.
  • Participates in enterprise governance councils and contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance, cybersecurity, and technology standards.
  • Leads the hospital’s IT strategic planning process, aligning technology initiatives with both hospital and enterprise goals.
  • Oversees day-to-day IT operations, including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and support services, ensuring high availability and performance of clinical and business systems.
  • Implements and monitors IT service management processes, incident response, and change management in accordance with enterprise policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and participates in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
  • Leads or supports enterprise IT initiatives at the hospital, including but not limited to EHR upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, digital transformation efforts, and initiatives to reduce technical debt within the hospital’s data center; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Champions change management, staff training, and adoption of new technologies, leveraging enterprise resources and best practices.
  • Fosters strong relationships with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and enterprise IT peers to ensure technology solutions meet operational and clinical needs.
  • Engages with external vendors and partners as needed, following enterprise procurement and vendor management guidelines.
  • Collaborates with hospital financial leaders to support cost containment strategies and ensure technology initiatives align with organizational priorities.
  • Identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and revenue generation through technology.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops the hospital IT team, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Supports enterprise talent initiatives, including workforce planning, succession management, and staff engagement.
  • Drives continuous improvement in IT service delivery, leveraging data analytics, benchmarking, and enterprise performance metrics.
  • Promotes a culture of innovation, encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies that advance patient care, operational efficiency, and data security.
