About The Position

As the Director of IDD Residential Services (Area Director), you’ll lead a regional portfolio of residential services and play a key role in shaping what comes next for Dungarvin. You’ll have the opportunity to strengthen teams, develop leaders, and bring consistency and stability to programs while helping guide the organization through an exciting period of growth and change. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity where you’ll influence people, culture, operations, and growth. Working closely with Area Managers, Program Directors, and state leadership, you’ll help teams navigate change, adopt new processes, and build strong, sustainable programs while keeping the people we support at the center of every decision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field required, (Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Allied Health, Special Education, etc).
  • 5+ years of experience of supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities (IDD / DD), including direct experience overseeing residential services, group homes, Day programs or community-based programs required.
  • 2+ years of progressive leadership experience developing staff, driving accountability, resolving operational challenges, and achieving quality, operational, and financial goals.
  • Working knowledge of Indiana FSSA/BDDS requirements, IDD services, HCBS/CIH and Medicaid Waiver programs, state licensing requirements, CMS standards, and compliance and quality assurance practices in accordance with IDOH and CARF standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and operational reporting systems, with the ability to use Power BI dashboards and data to monitor trends, track outcomes, and support program performance.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.

  • Experience managing and supporting budgets of $5M+, monitoring P&L performance, assisting with forecasting, labor management, and resource allocation.

  • Leadership & Talent Development: Builds trust, develops leaders, promotes accountability, and supports recruitment, retention, and professional growth across the region.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Communicates clearly and diplomatically while building effective relationships with employees, individuals and families, guardians, state agencies, and community partners.
  • Operational Judgment & Problem Solving: Evaluates staffing, compliance, financial, behavioral, and operational challenges, prioritizes competing demands, and makes timely, practical decisions.
  • Change Leadership & Adaptability: Helps teams navigate organizational change, shifting priorities, and evolving processes while maintaining stability, engagement, and service quality.
