About The Position

This position is responsible for the formation and implementation of HR strategy and operations for the Walton College. Requires extensive knowledge of university, state and federal HR processes, regulations and standards. Advises deans regarding HR policy and strategy formation and implementation. Advises and collaborates with department chairs in the recruiting and retention of faculty and provides guidance to align the associated processes with college strategic initiatives. Leads and collaborates with cross functional groups to develop and implement systems and conduct continuous improvement projects. Partners proactively with Walton College directors, faculty, and staff to address a variety of workplace issues. Provides guidance and advice on all HR related issues in a way that is planned and integrated. Provides a wide range of HR services, including centralization of staff recruitment processes, staff orientation and training, compensation, staff performance management, staff relations, retention and career development, job analysis and documentation, and organizational development from a staff perspective. Represents the college at various meetings. Reports to the assistant dean for finance and administration. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, or related field
  • At least five years experience working in a corporate or professional environment with at least three years HR experience
  • At least two years of experience using an HCM system such as Workday
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing business operations
  • Knowledge and ability to apply the principles and practices of human resources
  • Knowledge and ability to apply university, state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM or HRCI, or other applicable professional HR certification
  • At least two years’ experience in an HR role within a public, higher education environment working with faculty
  • Oversight and tactical experience with full cycle recruiting
  • Experience with routine through complex employee relations issues including escalations
