About The Position

The Director of Human Resources leads all HR functions to support the district’s mission and ensure high-quality staffing across schools. The role oversees recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and labor relations while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace. As a key advisor to district leadership, the Director ensures HR practices align with educational goals and help attract, develop, and retain effective staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of Human Resource Management Experience
  • Demonstrates exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence, policies, reports, and employee communications with accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with employees, leadership, and external partners to support organizational goals and a respectful workplace culture.

Nice To Haves

  • School Administrator Certification and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the hiring process of the district from beginning to end.
  • Recruit, screen, and recommend employment of applicants.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
  • Works toward the accomplishment of district-wide goals set by the Board of Education
  • Oversee staffing assignments for all employees, yearly staffing reviews, and enrollment projections.
  • Ensure staff members have required certifications.
  • Administer provisions of collective bargaining agreements and/or district procedures dealing with staffing, transfers, discipline, leaves, resignations, retirement, benefits, vacations, absences, grievances, and supplemental pay.
  • Consult with and advise administrators and supervisors on contract interpretation and implementation.
  • Work with District legal counsel on personnel, contract, and grievance matters.
  • Assist with negotiations for all labor management organizations.
  • Oversee the District employee performance evaluation process. Including PERA.
  • Advise administrative staff about discipline, job performance, employee duties, and assignments.
  • Serve as Title IX and District complaint manager.
  • Conduct employee disciplinary investigations.
  • Supervise the substitute process for certified staff.
  • Conduct staff onboarding and exit interviews.
  • Approve certified staff workshop credit and movement on the salary schedule.
  • Manage and oversee the district ’s FMLA, unemployment, OSHA compliance forms, and workers’ compensation.
  • Review employee leaves, sick leave banks, and accident/injuries.
  • Oversee mandated training for all staff.
  • Develop and maintain up to date employee handbooks.
  • Attend Board meetings and prepare such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may request.
  • Attend all meetings of the Board of Education
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
