About The Position

FLORES is looking for an experienced and strategic Director of HR Services to lead our Human Resources Client Services Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR leader who enjoys the balance of people leadership, client partnership, compliance, problem-solving, and strategic HR. As the Director of HR Services, you will serve as a trusted HR advisor to FLORES clients while providing leadership, direction, and development to our team of HR professionals. You will help ensure our clients receive thoughtful, compliant, and high-quality HR solutions while continuing to strengthen and evolve the way FLORES delivers HR services. This role is ideal for an HR professional who can confidently move between strategic conversations with clients, coaching and developing a team, navigating complex employee relations matters, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR/Payroll experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a management or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR/Payroll practices.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR guidance in a client-service, consulting, outsourced HR, PEO, or similar environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, vendors, third-party partners, leadership, and team members.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and employee-development skills.
  • Strong client-service mindset with the ability to build trusted professional relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with HRIS and Payroll systems.
  • Professional presence and ability to represent FLORES with clients and business partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, PHRca, SPHR, SHRM-CP, AWI-CH, or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior HR advisor and primary point of contact for high-profile and complex client relationships.
  • Build trusted, long-term partnerships by understanding each client's business, workforce, and HR needs.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, compliance, benefits, compensation, staffing, training, and HR policies.
  • Conduct regular client check-ins to assess needs, gather feedback, and proactively identify opportunities and concerns.
  • Help clients navigate complex HR situations while balancing sound HR practices, compliance, and business objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of HR services to ensure quality, consistency, responsiveness, and compliance.
  • Provide direction on HR policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee HR programs and processes including benefits, workers' compensation, leaves of absence, unemployment, retirement plans, and related HR administration.
  • Manage complex HR compliance matters and investigations, partnering with legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and ensure the team and clients are informed of relevant changes.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the HRS team.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of HR professionals.
  • Establish goals, provide ongoing feedback, and support individual development plans.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the team's HR knowledge, client service capabilities, and compliance expertise.
  • Lead department meetings, workshops, and training sessions for both new and existing team members.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Help clients and the HRS team identify and address potential HR and workplace compliance risks.
  • Conduct HR audits and assessments as needed and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and clients.
  • Provide guidance related to workers' compensation, OSHA, workplace safety, and other HR risk-management considerations.
  • Partner with senior leadership on sensitive and complex client matters requiring thoughtful documentation and resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR service delivery, efficiency, technology, and processes.
  • Lead projects designed to improve client experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with company objectives and client needs.
  • Establish and monitor department goals and report progress to executive leadership.
  • Monitor HR industry trends and identify opportunities to enhance FLORES' HR services.
  • Develop and deliver HR training for clients and internal team members on topics such as employment compliance, employee relations, and management practices.
  • Provide clients with ongoing support, education, and guidance regarding HR best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Oversee the HR aspects of new client onboarding and transition into FLORES services.
  • Collaborate with other department directors on cross-functional projects and company initiatives.
