About The Position

The Director of Housing provides oversight to a portfolio of Community Access housing programs. This individual provides leadership in agency wide activities and initiatives to realize the agency’s mission, values and practice approach; develops policies, procedures and practices to strengthen organizational capacity; mentors, coaches and develops a diverse and team of program directors, managers and direct service workers; ensures accurate and consistent collection and review of data and ensures accountability at all levels to meet agency standards; prioritizes the evaluation of service offerings, program performance and outcomes to identify and address areas in need of improvement; serves as liaison to key government agencies and represents the agency in the community and other settings.

Requirements

  • Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access.
  • Ability to train and support staff on the implementation of CA values and practice approach.
  • Minimum of seven years working in supportive housing with people who have a history of homelessness, substance use, and/or mental health diagnosis.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work as part of a team, and skill in communicating program goals and holding people accountable to reaching them.
  • Ability to monitor details of program operation.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be creative and flexible.
  • Ability to utilize various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Show initiative and be responsible for follow through.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be skilled in conflict mediation/negotiation and have an assertive approach to problem solving.
  • Must be fingerprinted and cleared through a background clearance process.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred – work experience within field may be substituted for degree.
  • Program development and Medicaid compliance experience, preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking, preferred. Ability to speak other relevant languages, dependent on specific needs of program participants.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ensure ongoing use of Program Manuals and Onboarding Guidelines for department staff.
  • Work with programs to develop/implement/report on Annual QI Projects.
  • Contract Management – take the lead on contract renewals/audit preparation/review and monitor all CAPS.
  • Budget Management – including meeting billing targets, budget planning and oversight of discretionary spending and year end spending in collaboration with the Finance Department.
  • Actively participate in at least two internal committees/workgroups and one external committee to network and promote CA values.
  • Lead at least one new departmental initiative to bring in a new best practice, program or initiative annually.
  • Supervise Program Directors with a focus on leadership development, meeting contractual obligations and agency standards including but not limited to completing staff evaluations on time, filling staff and program vacancies, maintaining accountability within department.
  • Ensuring 95% occupancy rate for all housing programs.
