About The Position

Position Overview: The Director of Housing programs provides leadership and guidance to all program staff and residents through multiple programs as she/he strives to maintain a quality, trauma informed practice at all levels of service provision. The Director of Housing Programs will provide oversight and direction for all housing programs in Pottstown including: The Lessig-Booth Family Residence: A full year shelter for homeless families with children under the age of 17. Permanent Supportive Housing: Providing case management and services to at-risk adults. Pathway of Hope:Providing extensive management to break the continual bonds of poverty. Pottstown Works: Providing job readiness skills for those seeking better employment opportunities. Code Blue shelter operations: Emergency shelter resources when the temperature lowers to dangerous levels. Description of Position: Program Administration and Development: The Director of Housing Programs will provide oversight and direction for the all-housing programs in Pottstown including the Lessig-Booth Family Residence, Permanent Supportive Housing, Pathway of Hope, Pottstown Works job readiness program, and Code Blue shelter operations. This includes providing direct supervision and case management support for the Family Residence Housing Resource Manager, Permanent Supportive Housing Resource Manager, Pathway of Hope Case Manager, Shelter Coordinator, and Pottstown Works Coordinator. Staff Development: The Director of Housing Programs will be responsible for all staffing matters with regards to the housing programs, which includes the hiring and the supervision of up to 12 employees and that all state and army requirements for training are maintained for each employee and volunteer. Resource Management and Development: The Director of Housing Programs will work in collaboration with the Corps Commanding Officers to maintain and enhance relationships with current and potential funding streams. This requires meeting all state, county and army requirements for grants and other funding opportunities. Community Relationships and Growth: Director of Housing Programs will continue to evaluate the trends in Montgomery County regarding housing and homeless services. The Director of Housing Programs will ensure that The Salvation Army plays an active role in county initiatives and collaboration aimed at improving human services. Areas of growth and development will be identified and explored through these activities. Physical Property: The Director of Housing Programs is responsible for the physical property of the shelter. The Director supervises the Shelter Coordinator who will ensure the systems are working properly and efficiently to best serve the staff and residents. Firm but flexible schedule: The Director of Housing Programs is expected to work a consistent 40 hours/ week and may need to work additional hours in the evenings or weekends as deemed necessary for the job function and needs of the family residence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work (or related field), and/or 10 years of progressive work experience in social work.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervising others
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in fund raising and community outreach
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in case management
  • Must be a self-starter and have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
