About The Position

The Director of Housekeeping will be responsible for the management and day-to-day operations for the Housekeeping department. This role involves setting the long-term vision and direction for the department, including improvements and projects. The Director will conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards, coordinate with other departments to enhance communication and guest satisfaction, and ensure all equipment is maintained and used properly. A key aspect of this role is meeting service and production standards, managing the department's financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, and monitoring supply consumption and ordering replacements. The Director will also maintain cost control, manage the selection, training, and development of employees to maximize satisfaction and productivity, and ensure seamless employee relations with contract employees. Establishing safe working conditions through appropriate training and fostering positive relationships with all hotel associates are also essential functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience in housekeeping within a luxury hotel.
  • Must have Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Opera preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
  • Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity and other expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and used accordingly.

  • Responsible for overall financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning of the department.
  • Bear ultimate responsibility for monitoring consumption and ordering replacement of guest and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain effective cost control through systems and processes.
  • Manage the selection, training and development of employees with an eye toward maximum employee satisfaction, productivity and guest satisfaction.
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop colleagues for maximum effectiveness.
  • Provide seamless employee relations with contract employees, ensuring proper training and culture integration.
  • Establish safe working conditions through appropriate training.
  • Create appropriate relationships with all levels of hotel Associates.
