About The Position

A UHNW family with three school-aged children, who split their time between NYC and the Hamptons, is seeking a highly capable and polished director of household operations to start ASAP. The schedule will typically be Monday through Friday, with occasional later evenings and weekends required. The family spends the majority of the year in their primary residence in NYC, and July and August at their additional residence in the Hamptons. As such, candidates should have their own accommodation in NYC, but private accommodation will be provided in the Hamptons. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a highly polished, service-oriented professional with a strong background in private household management, staff leadership, and luxury hospitality standards.

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card, or EAC
  • Demonstrated history of longevity in previous roles
  • Exceptional front-of-house sensibilities and a refined understanding of discreet, anticipatory, silent service.
  • A polished presence, a problem-solving mindset, and a deep commitment to creating exceptional, consistent experiences across multiple residences.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent and elevated standard of execution and delivery of an exceptional guest experience.
  • Ensure meticulous care of garments through quality control in laundry management.
  • Lead and mentor a small housekeeping team (2–3 housekeeping staff per property), fostering excellence and teamwork.
  • Identify operational gaps and implement effective training to raise standards uniformly across all properties.
  • Manage household inventories and restock essentials such as groceries, cleaning supplies, and other household items.
  • Ensure fresh flowers are present and curate flawless table settings.
  • Provide general support to ensure a seamless hospitality experience for both family and guests.
  • Exhibit a leadership style grounded in positivity, collaboration, and emotional intelligence, building a team culture rooted in professionalism and mutual respect.
  • Focus on service, presentation, and team performance, without direct engagement with Principals on routine or behind-the-scenes issues.
