About The Position

As a Director of Engineering and Facilities, you will provide leadership to the facilities maintenance engineers by providing development and management training, guidance for various computerized maintenance management system implementations, and leadership training on how to interface between the maintenance team and other departments. You will also deliver weekly updates to the Vice President of Development and Construction and assist in developing & managing a best in class facilities program. Prior hotel experience is greatly preferred but comparable demonstrated experience will be considered.

Requirements

  • 10 years in Facilities Management with a focus on operations and maintenance of hotel properties with at least 7 of those years managing others.
  • Oversight of facilities management of multiple properties is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a chief engineer at a large hotel is a plus
  • Fire Safety Director certification is a plus
  • Travel Requirement is 50% both in-state (CO) and out-of-state as needed. Position is based in Corporate office in Colorado.
  • BS in Engineering or comparative work experience.
  • Must have above average written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must be computer literate, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Must have a professional appearance & behavior.
  • Must have a strong understanding of regulatory compliance rules and regulations as they pertain to maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the hotel chief engineers, managers & maintenance staff to oversee the implementation of maintenance standards and best practices throughout company portfolio.
  • Assist local maintenance management teams with improving consistency of operations. Provide functional and technical knowledge required to support engineers for all building equipment & systems, fire & life safety systems, roofing, building exterior, general maintenance of equipment and ongoing asset management.
  • Manage compliance of maintenance standards including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems governing daily operations at site level, execution of preventative maintenance tasks (PM’s) for all assets, inventory management effectiveness, resource management effectiveness as well as general and customary maintenance operations practices across all assigned regions.
  • Utilize reporting functions to analyze specific performance trends across all assigned regions and facilities. Identify improvement opportunities by region/location and develop action plans in conjunction with the Engineers.
  • Monitor budgeted, non-budgeted, capital, and expense projects for assigned facilities. Oversee both in-house and outsourced projects from start to finish. Initiate, review and approve CAPX or Expense request documentation. Involvement and follow through of projects to include bid/requests, start-up, minor construction, and completion phases. Manage operational budgets in assigned facilities.
  • Report weekly on status of all projects and facilities expenditures for all assigned facilities including overtime breakdowns, emergency requests, labor details with a focus on budget limits and overruns.
  • Manage the execution of special requirements that arise throughout the year including seasonal requirements, high volume events and personnel changes. Duties to include conducting site inspections on potential new properties, support of existing business needs by recommending temporary moves of existing resources to fill short term gaps and new equipment requirements due to unforeseen incidences such as floods, fire etc.
  • Identify new maintenance operational efficiency improvement opportunities and implement or pilot these initiatives.
  • Mentor and train existing maintenance management teams in means and methods of executing same initiatives once proven out.
  • Assist current Engineers with developing action plans using a team approach to accomplish goal objectives.
  • Participate in hiring & onboarding of engineering / maintenance staff as new hotels are added to the portfolio.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor.
