About The Position

Vogel, a leader in providing high-quality early childhood care and education to families experiencing homelessness, is seeking a passionate Director of Grants and Foundation Relationships to join our senior leadership team. As the Director of Grants and Foundation Relationships, you'll serve as a key member of Vogel's Development team, reporting directly to the President/CEO. You'll lead the strategic design, execution, and management of Vogel's grants program — researching funding opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, cultivating foundation relationships, and driving the revenue that powers our mission. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (required).
  • 5–7 years of development experience, including demonstrated success in grant writing — preferably in a nonprofit, community-based organization.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive, and impactful proposals.
  • Excellent time management skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with data entry systems and reporting; Salesforce experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, managing people and budgets, and the ability to thrive in a hands-on environment.
  • Well-disciplined, self-motivated, and goal-oriented — able to work with a high degree of independence as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Handle confidential matters and information with the utmost professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and comfortable navigating donor management systems.
  • Upbeat, positive, warm, and outgoing personality and a genuine passion for Vogel's mission to serve children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Research potential grant funding sources — corporations, foundations, organizations, and government agencies — and collect data to analyze gift potential.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive timeline for grant proposals and reporting deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with the President/CEO and Senior Managers to understand program goals and priorities, translating them into meaningful, fundable proposals.
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals, applications, and follow-up reports that clearly communicate Vogel's mission and impact.
  • Develop specific funding requests as grant opportunities become available, tailoring each proposal to the funder's priorities.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation partners, corporate funders, and other grant-making organizations.
  • Demonstrate proven success in identifying and soliciting funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations across a variety of sources.
  • Maintain thorough and organized grant files and records.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track grants, produce contact notes, and conduct timely follow-up.
  • Develop a portfolio of reports from the Salesforce database for measuring performance, analysis, and organizational reporting.
  • Supervise the Development Associate, providing coaching, direction, and support.
  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Management and Development teams, contributing to organizational strategy and planning.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
