About The Position

The Director of Global Member Development will lead initiatives focused on member experience, recognition programs, volunteer engagement, and digital engagement. This role involves analyzing engagement data, participation trends, and member feedback to understand the performance of the member experience portfolio. Collaboration with Learning & Development, Nursing Strategy & Leadership, Membership, and volunteer governance partners is crucial to ensure alignment across various development and engagement strategies. The position requires direct interaction with members, volunteers, and stakeholders to understand and improve their lived experience. The ultimate goal is to translate insights into actionable strategies, refine priorities, shape portfolio decisions, and ensure continuous improvement of the member experience across all channels. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complexity, builds structure, and views member experience as a dynamic system.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience leading member engagement, volunteer engagement, professional development, constituent experience, or association management functions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives that increase engagement, participation, retention, or overall constituent value.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and building collaborative partnerships across multiple departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience across multiple areas of member experience, such as recognition, awards, mentoring, volunteer engagement pathways, professional enrichment, or digital community platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience using data, metrics, and constituent insights to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Ability to lead a team through ambiguity and iterative improvement without losing momentum or clarity of direction.
  • Comfort building in environments where not everything is defined yet.
  • Ability to create structure where little exists.
  • Ability to move fluidly between high-level strategy and lived member experience detail.
  • Patience and persistence for long-horizon portfolio work.
