About The Position

The Senior Director of Gift Planning is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive deferred giving program across Chapters affiliates for the purpose of securing long-term philanthropic support for Chapters Health Foundation and Chapters Health System affiliates. This role will cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders (including Affiliate directors of philanthropy), donors, and advisors to promote legacy giving and ensure the sustainability of Chapter’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, with at least 5 years in planned giving.
  • Deep knowledge of estate planning, tax law, and charitable gift instruments.
  • Proven track record of securing significant planned gifts and building donor relationships.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and project management abilities.
  • Experience in closing gifts provided through complex charitable gift instruments.
  • Experience with donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and planned giving software.

  • Advanced degree or CFRE/CGPP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-year gift planning strategy in alignment with Chapters’ goals overall goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate gift planning into overall fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with communications and fundraising teams to integrate gift planning into broader campaigns.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of planned giving donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with Affiliate directors of philanthropy to identify, cultivate and solicit planned giving donors.
  • Conduct donor visits and presentations to promote bequests, charitable trusts, and other planned giving vehicles.
  • Maintain strong relationships with legacy society members and ensure meaningful recognition.
  • Manage omnichannel outreach, including digital, print, and event-based strategies.
  • Implement and oversee a robust planned giving marketing plan.
  • Manage donor communications and gift administration.
  • Partner with legal and financial advisors to structure complex gifts.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards related to charitable giving.
  • Provide guidance and training to development staff on identifying and referring planned giving prospects.
  • Collaborate with leadership gifts, annual giving, and events teams to maximize donor engagement.
  • Track and report on planned giving metrics, pipeline development, and revenue projections.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $96,103.54 - $143,040.51
