About The Position

The Iowa State University Athletics Department has an opening for Director of Football Operations . We’re seeking a strategic, detail‑driven person to help guide the operational heartbeat of our football program. This role ensures that coaches, staff, and student‑athletes have the structure, resources, and support necessary to perform at a championship level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Solid knowledge of the sport of football (post high school level).
  • Directly related experience in athletics administration, administrative support, coaching, or sports operations.
  • Candidates require a high level of football operational knowledge and exceptional organizational, decision making, problem solving and communication skills .
  • Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.
  • Position will work many non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends and requires the ability to travel overnight.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a broad range of football operations for an FBS program.
  • Experience managing large group logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and internal communication of the football program.
  • Plan and execute all travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, meals, and itineraries for home and away competitions.
  • Assist with maintaining schedules and ensuring Teamworks is up to date for all football student-athletes and staff.
  • Work with equipment and facilities staff to ensure practice, game, and meeting spaces are prepared and maintained.
  • Serve as a liaison between the football program and other departments (equipment, nutrition, sports medicine, strength & conditioning).
  • Assist with official and unofficial visits.
  • Assist with providing transition assistance for incoming student-athletes.
  • Contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience.
  • Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university staff, and administrators, alumni, media and the public.
  • Adhere to University, Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations.
