About The Position

Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for a Full-Time Director of Fleet Services to manage, organize, direct, hire, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to Paratransit’s fleet maintenance and operations. This position oversees a staff of approximately 20 employees (including office staff, maintenance staff and utility staff), a fleet of 50+ Paratransit buses, contract fleet maintenance services (50+ vehicles) and coordination with outside vehicle service providers (50+ vehicles). The Director of Fleet Services plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of all fleet operations. The hours of operations for the location are Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM- 8:30 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM – 1:00PM. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing maintenance operations with supervision of seven (7) or more employees (references required)
  • Must possess journey-level mechanic experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proficiency with computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience interfacing with clients and external stakeholders
  • Technical competence in vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management, Asset Works or other Asset Management systems used in fleet operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazardous materials handling, and MSDS/SDS compliance
  • Knowledge of DOT Drug and Alcohol regulations
  • Knowledge of governmental procurement requirements, rules and regulations
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement within six (6) months of hire

  • ASE Certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all fleet maintenance and repair operations, including buses, vehicles, and related equipment
  • Plan, organize, and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure fleet availability and safety
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate fleet maintenance staff, including hiring and disciplinary actions
  • Manage the financial and accounting aspects of fleet maintenance operations, including budgeting and cost control
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for vehicle maintenance, repairs and parts procurement
  • Ensure compliance with Transit Asset Management Plan
  • Interface with clients and internal departments to ensure service needs are met
  • Utilize fleet and maintenance management software to track performance and compliance
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to fleet operations, audits, and inspections
  • Oversee compliance with all fleet maintenance contractual requirements and manage the completion of required daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting.
