Your Team, Your Impact Firmware Engineering for Photonic Fabric Products What You Can Expect Technical Leadership Define and own the firmware architecture for embedded systems spanning high-speed SerDes and interconnect IP Provide hands-on design reviews, architectural guidance, and code reviews to maintain quality and consistency across the codebase Drive firmware development best practices including coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, and test frameworks Partner closely with ASIC, hardware, and system software teams to define firmware/hardware interfaces and integration strategies Lead root cause analysis and resolution for critical firmware bugs and system-level issues Stay current with emerging industry standards (e.g., CXL, UALink, PCIe Gen 6) and guide their adoption into the product roadmap People Management Directly manage a team of 6–9 firmware engineers spanning junior, mid-level, and senior levels Hire, onboard, and develop firmware engineering talent; own the full recruiting lifecycle for your team Define clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s, and provide structured feedback and growth plans Mentor junior engineers through technical challenges, career development conversations, and stretch assignments Build a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and continuous learning within the firmware organization Manage workload distribution, sprint planning, and delivery commitments in collaboration with program management Cross-Functional & Strategic Represent the firmware organization in program and product planning discussions; provide accurate scope and schedule estimates Collaborate with customers and field teams to understand integration requirements and drive firmware solutions Contribute to long-range technical roadmap planning in partnership with senior engineering and product leadership Identify and mitigate technical and organizational risks proactively What We're Looking For B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 10+ years of firmware or embedded systems engineering experience, with at least 6 years in an engineering management or technical lead role Deep expertise in one or more of: PCIe, CXL, NVMe, Ethernet, or high-speed serial interconnect firmware Strong proficiency in C for embedded and low-level systems development Experience with bring-up, validation, and debug of complex SoC or ASIC-based systems Ability to use best-in-class development practices including AI capabilities Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers at multiple career stages Strong communication skills — able to distill complex technical topics for both engineering peers and executive stakeholders Experience with photonic or optical interconnect systems Familiarity with UALink, CXL 3.x shared memory, or AI accelerator interconnect architectures Experience hiring and building firmware teams from early-stage or high-growth environments Prior experience at a semiconductor, networking, or AI infrastructure company Expected Base Pay Range (USD) 190,280 - 285,000, $ per annum The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions. Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of firmware or embedded systems engineering experience, with at least 6 years in an engineering management or technical lead role
