About The Position

The Director of Finance at OrthoArkansas provides financial leadership for the organization and oversees the full finance and accounting function. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance owns day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis, while partnering with the CEO, who leads overall organizational strategy. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records, strengthens internal controls, and turns financial data into clear insight that supports operational and clinical decisions. This position is central to protecting the organization’s assets and advancing its long-term financial health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including at least 3 years of management experience.
  • Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team while remaining hands-on with the work.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong knowledge of accounting and reporting systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to leadership and physicians.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and compensation information.
  • Mastery: Spreadsheet.
  • Advanced: Finance, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Word Processing/Typing.
  • Intermediate: Contact Management, Payroll Systems, Database.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred.
  • Prior experience owning both finance and accounting operations preferred.
  • Preferred: Financial reporting, budgeting, revenue cycle, and data visualization tools.
  • At least interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) if not already using it.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full accounting and finance function, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reports.
  • Own the monthly and annual close, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and variance reporting.
  • Monitor, interpret, and analyze financial performance, providing the CEO and leadership with clear insight and recommendations.
  • Serve as a financial thought partner to the CEO, who leads overall organizational strategy.
  • Build financial forecasts, models, pro formas, and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.
  • Must be interested in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and be willing to become an expert in this area and its uses in the Finance and Accounting functions.
  • Administer and maintain physician compensation structures, including production and collections-based components and partner distributions, with strong supporting controls.
  • Develop provider-level and service-line profitability analysis, including ancillary lines such as surgery, imaging, physical therapy, and DME.
  • Direct treasury management, including cash controls and the timing and amounts of cash flows.
  • Ensure all required audits and tax and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls that safeguard organizational assets.
  • Support financial compliance considerations, including areas that intersect with physician compensation.
  • Supervise, train, and develop accounting and finance staff.
  • Serve as a key contact for banking partners and external auditors.
  • Advise and educate leadership and physicians on financial matters that influence operations.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
