About The Position

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a strategic finance leader for Charter Steel to partner with business leadership and help shape business direction. The Director of Finance will lead short- and long-term forecasting, annual business planning, financial analysis and reporting, and the monthly financial close. The role leads the finance team supporting Commercial, Supply Chain, and General Accounting, and serves as a trusted financial partner to leaders across the organization. The position combines financial expertise with business partnership, sound judgment, and the ability to influence decisions beyond the Finance organization. The leader will develop team capabilities and talent while connecting financial insight to business strategy, identifying opportunities, and helping leaders make informed decisions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Eight or more years of experience in accounting and/or finance.
Three or more years of experience as a business partner to a commercial or operations leader.
Experience leading and developing a team.
Ability to work in and lead teams within Finance and cross-functionally within the business.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and qualitative analysis skills.
Experience with planning and forecasting in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to present and communicate financial information clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to drive Continuous Improvement efforts across functions.
Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with other functional areas.
Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and/or CPA.
Experience leading a commercial finance team.
Experience with data management and reporting tools such as Impact or Hyperion.
Experience with business intelligence and analytics platforms for analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
Demonstrated leadership expertise in data analysis and visualization, technology use, and digital transformation.
Strong business process knowledge, particularly across commercial and supply chain functions, including purchasing, logistics, supply planning, and demand planning.
Demonstrated leadership in skill building and talent development in financial planning and analysis and advanced analytics across multiple business functions.
Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and change management skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic finance partner to Charter Steel leadership, providing financial insight and analysis to support business strategy, operating decisions, and long-term growth.
Lead annual business planning, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, ensuring clear assumptions, accurate projections, and alignment across the business.
Analyze and communicate financial performance, business drivers, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership, including preparing executive- and Board-level reporting.
Partner with Commercial and Supply Chain leadership to strengthen financial decision-making, customer profitability insights, S&OP support, and business performance.
Lead and continuously improve monthly financial reporting, forecasting models, analytical tools, and processes.
Provide leadership and oversight for accounting and financial activities, including monthly close, balance sheet review, financial controls, and related business-cycle requirements.
Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, building financial, analytical, and business-partnership capabilities.
Use data, analytics, technology, and business intelligence tools to improve reporting, identify trends, and support informed decisions.
Partner cross-functionally on strategic initiatives, financial modeling, Continuous Improvement efforts, and organizational change.
Build relationships across Charter Steel and the broader organization, using business acumen and financial expertise to influence decisions and drive results.
Maintain appropriate financial controls and processes while supporting Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System requirements.
