About The Position

The Director of Finance serves on the Executive Committee and is a key strategic partner in financial analysis, long term goals, operational management, and owner relationships. Responsibilities include determining budgets and financial goals, presentations to ownership on financial plan, communicating financial results across all levels, assessing and anticipating budgetary challenges, safeguarding hotel assets, maximizing profitability, providing leadership and clear direction to the management team in terms of financial planning and reporting, and developing the finance team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passionate interest in analytical problem solving, accurate reporting and adherence to policies, procedures and contracts. Responsible for safeguarding the hotel assets and financial resources to ensure that all are utilized to maximize hotel profitability. Provides timely and accurate financial information and counsel to hotel senior management and ensures that the hotel operates within all related local and corporate policies and procedures and under the terms of the management agreement.

Requirements

  • College education or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization.
  • Requires a working technical knowledge of Generally accepted accounting principles and job knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing and food & beverage control.
  • Ability to read and speak and write English

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Director of Finance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential accounting, HOA budgeting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, control and record all sales, purchases, salaries and expenses of the hotel.
  • Ensure the preparation of a comprehensive monthly report of the entire financial results of the hotel in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets as locally, by corporate office or management agreement.
  • Maintain files on all contracts, leases and agreements and ensure compliance with their requirements.
  • Monitor the status of Accounts Receivable aging and billing collections to achieve company standards.
  • Review the cash position of the hotel on a daily basis in order to optimize the use of funds.
  • Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Assist General Manager is establishing policies, rules, internal controls and safeguards.
  • Actively support the Safety Committee.
  • Maintain close relations with hotel’s internal and external auditors and ensure effective action necessary on all agreed upon recommendations.
