Supervises and directs the financial activities of the hotel, safeguards the assets, and prepares all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts Standards. The role involves active participation in the Executive Committee and staff meetings, assisting other managers with financial data analysis, and ensuring compliance with property standards and Corporate SOPs. The Director of Finance is responsible for managing financial and accounting practices, including correcting internal audit deficiencies, maintaining cash control systems, reviewing asset security, and understanding relevant leases and contracts. This position also requires knowledge of sales tax laws and innkeeper laws. The role includes preparing the annual operating budget and capital expenditures budget, controlling the Capital Expenditure program with ROI analysis, and completing financial statement entries. The Director of Finance must review statements for accuracy, inform management of financial issues, and track sales and profit attainment. Responsibilities also extend to managing Accounts Receivable, including maintaining standards for aged accounts, approving credit, and submitting credit loss reports. The role requires responding to Corporate Staff with financial reports and requests, establishing necessary reports outside of SOPs, and reconciling account balances. This includes establishing balances in accruals and pre-paid accounts, calculating turn ratios, and working with department managers to control inventory. The Director of Finance is also responsible for managing the department, including updating job descriptions, complying with wage policies, establishing cross-training programs, and identifying management candidates. The position requires compliance with attendance rules and the ability to perform other assigned duties.
