About The Position

Hotel Equities is seeking a Director of Finance for Hotel Northland in Green Bay, WI. This role establishes, coordinates, and administers all financial systems, internal controls, and the hotel's capital plan. The Director of Finance prepares and reviews budgets, forecasts, operating results, financial reports, and tax returns in compliance with regulations. This position is responsible for short- and long-term planning and the daily operations of the finance department, developing and managing the department's budget and objectives. The Director of Finance participates in total hotel management as a member of the hotel's Executive Committee, providing timely reports to management to assist in achieving financial goals. They consult with the Regional Vice President and Corporate Controller on accounting transactions and control procedures not explicitly covered in company policies. The role requires warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to reassure guests.

Requirements

  • High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.
  • Ability to perform lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying up to 15-20 lbs (e.g., boxes, computer equipment).
  • Limited bending/kneeling required when arranging supplies or equipment.
  • Limited mobility between offices and departments.
  • No continuous standing, climbing or driving.
  • Being passionate about people and service.
  • Strong communication skills are essential when interacting with guests and employees.
  • Reading and writing abilities are used often when completing paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/information updates, etc.
  • Basic math skills are used frequently when handling cash or credit.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, coordinate, and administer an adequate plan for the control of operations, including profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, capital requirements, cost standards, and necessary procedures.
  • Formulate local accounting policy, coordinate systems and procedures, and prepare operating data and special reports to compare performance with plans and standards, and to report and interpret results to management and ownership.
  • Act as a financial consultant, providing information on the financial impact of business decisions for management responsible for policy or action.
  • Establish and administer all tax filing and government reporting procedures to ensure accurate, timely information in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with hotel and accounting policies and procedures, legal requirements, and contractual obligations using internal controls, auditing, and security procedures.
  • Manage the Human Resources in the division to attract, retain, and motivate employees, including hiring, training, development, coaching, performance reviews, and problem resolution.
  • Manage the installation and maintenance of accounting computer systems and equipment to ensure optimum performance.
  • Maintain a fiduciary responsibility to the company and management.
