About The Position

Valvoline Global Operations is seeking a Director of Finance Operations to lead finance and accounting functions organization-wide. This role acts as the principal decision-maker on issues impacting financial health, requiring a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and their strategic implications. The position fosters team development and charts the course for finance and accounting strategies, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary escalation point for all decisions, possessing a holistic understanding of accounting/financial impacts across all functions to support cross-functional strategic finance initiatives, and operating with minimal guidance. The role involves developing the team and setting the strategic vision for finance and accounting. Valvoline Global is establishing its new Global Headquarters in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, with the move anticipated in spring 2027. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with internal controls over financial reporting, enterprise risk management, finance function optimization/strategy and with progressive leadership experience
  • Strategic thinker with ability to synthesize information, identify opportunities/threats and make decisions that align with organizational objectives
  • Advanced understanding of the overall activities of consolidated financial statements and companywide implications in the areas subject to oversight
  • Ability to analyze economic, financial, market, and industry information to identify trends and assess strategies
  • Ability to integrate data to identify critical issues and articulate implications for the organization
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate to others to provide learning opportunities and coaching to deliver results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to initiate and lead open conversations with teams, business partners and other stakeholders to build trust

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Directs and reviews the work of internal/external teams across functions and/or geographies to ensure the company’s financial reporting processes are accurate, reliable and compliant with regulations; accountable for designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud and maintain the integrity of financial information disclosed to stakeholders.
  • Project manage integration efforts associated with mergers and acquisitions and provide value added insights relative to applicable work streams facilitating integration to Company processes and controls; serve on the project team to provide senior level finance insights to the S/4 Hana SAP implementation workstream and assist in managing project timelines, working closely with senior level internal and external resources; provide input on testing design and execution for Internal Audit function, applying methodologies consistent with the COSO framework, while also driving efficiency and optimization of testing strategies, evaluating results, and driving remediation efforts.
  • Provides direct supervision and substantive feedback to team members and develop their skills through promoting learning and development through a combination of on-the-job experience, best practices, keeping current and traditional learning and research.
  • Responsible for individual and team performance (process oversight) and seeks feedback to identify areas for strength and opportunities for development (including delegation).
  • Primary point of contact with external vendors to ensure execution of projects or day to day activities; works closely with the team to ensure budget is met.
  • Direct activities associated with the company-wide ERM process and validate critical enterprise-wide risks are being appropriately addressed through responsive governance activities.
  • Manage Shareholder relationships, SAO assessments and lead responses/resolution of identified issues. Interact with senior Aramco leadership to come to mutually agreeable answers on significant governance items.
  • Manage processes and internal controls that ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial information; Drive process improvement across all finance functions and serve as subject matter expert on key strategic finance initiatives.
  • Direct activities to expand and optimize use of Valvoline’s Business Services to add value to the business operations, while centralizing functions and eliminating redundancy to reduce costs.
  • Oversee relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional and business leadership, auditors, specialists, and service providers focused on project and issues management.
  • Influence and facilitate the creation of long-term relationships that add value to the organization, including networking with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise.
  • Regularly review and/or present information to the board, executives, and/or internal / external senior management across functions and geographies in written and verbal communications.
