About The Position

This role is for a Director of Finance & Business Support within a hotel that is a member of the Accor network. The position involves leading and motivating the accounting team, possessing a professional understanding of systems, business, and analytics, and supporting the Finance & Accounting department. The Director of Finance & Business Support will report to the General Manager and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, develop and manage the accounting team, and ensure compliance with corporate policies, SOX regulations, and audit requirements. The role also includes preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports, as well as ensuring effective utilization of hotel and accounting technology systems. The position requires participation in the Senior Duty Manager schedule and contributing to the hotel's overall leadership.

Requirements

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Accounting or enrolled in a recognized accounting program with progression to 4th or 5th level.
  • Minimum of 3 years hotel accounting experience and previous accounting experience at a senior level.
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing a highly motivated and cross-trained group of progressive accounting professionals.
  • Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software, including GFS/SUN, OneStream, Microsoft Office, Silverware, Opera and Dephi.
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day operations of accounting department
  • Develop an engaged, enthusiastic and service driven team of accounting professionals.
  • Recruit, develop and motivate the accounting group
  • Assist in the preparation of financial operating statements and reports in accordance with Corporate Policy and Procedure and SOX regulations.
  • Assist departments in the interpretation, orientation, training and analysis of revenue, payroll and expense matters.
  • Represent the accounting office in all employee, leadership, corporate and ownership meetings
  • Maintain system of accounts and controls, providing accurate data necessary for all required accounting reports and statements.
  • Actively involved in ensuring clean internal and external audit reports.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all month-end functions for review
  • Monitor, supervise and prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis
  • Lead and organize the creation of the Annual Operating & Capital Budgets, Strategic Plan, and Monthly Operating Forecasts
  • Coordinate and ensure that all daily, semi-monthly and monthly management reports are issued on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Ensure there is effective utilization and integration of hotel and accounting technology systems, including software applications, current and future.
  • Participate in Senior Duty Manager schedule, rotating with other senior managers of the hotel throughout the year.
  • Actively contribute to hotel overall leadership and direction.
