About The Position

Lowe Law Group is seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Accounting to join their executive leadership team. This role will lead the financial operations of a growing, multi-state law firm, oversee a team of five accounting professionals, manage compliance across more than 26 trust (IOLTA) accounts, and serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who combines exceptional accounting expertise with sound business judgment, operational excellence, and the highest level of integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • At least five years in an accounting leadership role.
  • Proven success leading accounting teams and partnering with business owners, executive leadership, and external CPAs in a growing organization.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, internal controls, financial modeling, and executive-level reporting.
  • Exceptional analytical, leadership, and strategic problem-solving skills, with the highest standards of integrity, judgment, and professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA license preferred, but equivalent executive-level accounting experience will be considered.
  • Law firm accounting experience, including trust (IOLTA) accounting and State Bar trust compliance, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of the firm's accounting, treasury, financial reporting, and cash management functions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of five accounting professionals.
  • Oversee the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, payroll oversight, banking relationships, accounting systems, and financial operations.
  • Maintain executive oversight of more than 26 trust (IOLTA) accounts, ensuring strict compliance with State Bar trust accounting rules, fiduciary obligations, reconciliation requirements, and internal controls.
  • Prepare executive financial statements, dashboards, forecasts, and analyses while partnering with ownership on budgeting, strategic planning, cash flow management, and key business initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the firm's outside CPA for tax planning, financial reporting, audits, and other accounting matters.
  • Develop strong financial controls, accounting policies, and risk management practices while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other applicable requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing financial processes, strengthening reporting, leveraging technology, and building scalable systems that support the firm's continued growth.
  • Oversee select personal financial matters for ownership while coordinating with outside financial advisors, tax professionals, and other trusted partners.
