About The Position

We’re looking for a Director of Facilities to join our eight-person leadership team and help provide strategic oversight to our operation. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking facilities leader who enjoys balancing big-picture planning with hands-on technical expertise—and who’s excited to help shape the future of a high-profile convention center. As Director of Facilities, you’ll be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our building systems while helping lead a robust capital program of approximately $3 million in projects annually. You’ll also play a key role as we look ahead to a potential expansion of the facility.

  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction or renovation projects, ideally in an occupied facility
  • Familiarity with public procurement, public works, and contracting processes, including experience preparing and administering Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations to Bid (ITBs)
  • Comfort managing vendor relationships and negotiating scope, schedule, and cost
  • The ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and decision-makers
  • A strategic mindset, paired with a practical, solutions-oriented approach

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public assembly facility such as a convention center, arena, stadium, performing arts venue, or similar complex environment
  • A desire to grow, learn, and evolve professionally while helping the organization do the same
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and an interest in future-focused projects, including facility expansion and long-term capital planning

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the organization’s leadership team, contributing to long-range planning and organizational decision-making
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the maintenance and engineering and technical services departments.
  • Lead and manage capital improvement and construction projects from concept through completion, acting as owner’s representative and project manager
  • Oversee public works and public procurement processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and best practices
  • Build and manage strong relationships with vendors, consultants, contractors, and inspectors
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders—from facilities technicians and operations staff to executive leadership, board members, and public partners
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and operational planning to ensure the facility remains safe, reliable, and event-ready
