About The Position

Oversees both the departments of Facilities and EVS to maintain the hospital environment in a comfortable, safe, and orderly condition in a cost-effective manner. Assures that the hospital will meet or exceed the requirements of external review agencies.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent is required.
  • Three (3) years' experience in a supervisory position required.
  • Building maintenance knowledge is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management team and members of the health care team.
  • Experience with facility emergency and/or disaster needs and responses.
  • Ability to make standard precautions, Life Safety and disaster potential decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Plant Operations, Facilities Management or similar preferred
  • Three (3) years’ experience in hospital or nursing home with knowledge of basic regulation requirements, principals and personnel management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, manages and schedules the Maintenance and Environmental Services teams job responsibilities and performance expectations, establish goals, identify skill gaps, create development plans, coach staff on a continuous basis and evaluate performance.
  • Develop effective work teams and motivate individuals to meet goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes both daily operational work and project work for the facilities team
  • Evaluate and propose new, creative solutions to resolve issues, gain efficiencies and reduce downtime throughout the organization.
  • Ensure that all work orders are entered into the system accurately and resolved in a timely fashion with appropriate feedback to the requestor.
  • Develop, implement and enforce department operating standards, procedures and policies.
  • Manage vendors and the vendor contracting process including evaluation and management of support contracts, Service Level Agreements and the overall procurement process.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner and documented per DNV standards.
  • Maintain all documentation required per DNV standards for Life Safety and Environment of Care.
  • Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions and emerging environmental and clinical conditions.
  • Ensure that building/hospital operations comply with local zoning laws and federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee and/or provide input on all projects impacting the organizational facilities.
  • Actively identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities across the organization.
  • Designs written proposals of facility needs neatly and accurately.
  • Responsible for adequate knowledge and application of facility personnel employment policies.
  • Conducts departmental staff meetings to convey updated information.
  • Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect at all times.
  • Attends Administrative Staff, Quality Assurance, Infection Control, Risk Management, Safety Committee, Fire Safety, Disaster, and Education meetings.
  • Oversees and applies the DNV Plans; Security Management, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Utility Management, Fire Safety and Emergency Management.
  • Ensures all Life Safety Code requirements and regulations are met and maintained for all campus locations.
  • Maintains records for Quality Assurance monitoring and reporting, including ISO 9001reviews, reporting, corrective actions, with full and complete documentation.
  • Maintains Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Researches, plans and coordinates contract services of pest and rodent control, elevator maintenance, fire extinguisher recharging, fires suppression system annual inspections, fire alarm system annual inspections, biohazard waste disposal, general garbage disposal, lawn maintenance, boiler inspection, hazardous materials disposal, exhaust asbestos abatement and minor renovations/structural changes.
  • Assist in detailing and reviewing construction/renovation drawings.
  • Oversee contractors and overall construction/renovation projects.
  • Develops and revises departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection Control standards set by the Hospital.
