About The Position

The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the various administrative and management functions related to facility planning, construction, operations, and management. This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Vice President for Agriculture - Extension. The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a statewide campus with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a facilities management related field, or equivalent professional certifications, or at least five (5) years of maintenance related experience.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly.
  • Ability to manage staff.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Physical and mental ability to effectively perform duties and responsibilities related to the job, which may include long and irregular hours of work.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a safe work environment, including all safety matters related to the buildings, grounds and personnel.
  • Administering the building security (camera) system and the employee ID badge system.
  • Maintaining key lock system for facilities.
  • Coordinating with UA-Little Rock Department of Public Safety on facility security.
  • Developing, administering and training personnel on facility emergency procedures (fire, inclement weather, etc.).
  • Monitoring and maintaining all utilities and building systems.
  • Identifying and completing building repairs.
  • Performing or procuring preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment.
  • Reporting and handling Property and Casualty issues and disposal of Extension equipment through the Arkansas Office of Marketing and Redistribution (DFA).
  • Preparing and managing budgets for Facilities Management operations.
  • Purchasing material and supplies for facility.
  • Monitoring and analyzing utilities and other facilities maintenance costs and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Estimating repair costs and preparing capital budgets.
  • Providing support for Administrators.
  • Working with Administration on special projects.
  • Supervising all building janitorial services and grounds maintenance.
  • Supervising front desk/switchboard operations and scheduling and billing of educational classrooms and auditorium.
  • Monitoring the vending area.
  • Operating motor pool for Cooperative Extension faculty and staff.
  • Managing fleet gas cards and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Supervising shipping/receiving and warehouse operations.
  • Supporting office moves and relocations.
  • Assembling furniture.
  • Overseeing the Postal Center and processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Processing FedEx and UPS package transfers.
