About The Position

The Director of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for leading all aspects of facility operations and maintenance across the aerospace manufacturing site. This includes the oversight of building infrastructure, production equipment, utilities, and grounds, ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and aerospace industry regulations. The role focuses on strategic asset management, reliability engineering, capital planning, and leading cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master's or MBA a plus).
  • 10+ years of facilities and maintenance leadership experience, preferably in aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level role managing large teams and complex facilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, utility infrastructure, and industrial equipment.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry requirements: AS9100, NADCAP, and cleanroom/contamination control.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), CMMS systems, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
  • Solid project management experience in construction, facility upgrades, and capital improvement planning.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical schematics, and building codes.
  • Familiarity with EHS, ISO 14001, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and performance of all facility infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and compressed air systems.
  • Ensure uptime and optimal operation of all manufacturing equipment and production utilities. Equipment management of presses, furnaces, CNC machines, VARs, grind equipment, manipulators, forklifts, and saws.
  • Direct preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
  • Manage facility expansions, renovations, and new equipment installations in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
  • Develop and manage long-term facilities and maintenance strategies aligned with plant growth and aerospace quality/compliance standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team (50-75 indirect/direct reports) of facility engineers, maintenance supervisors, and skilled trades personnel.
  • Create and manage departmental budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and capital expenditure projects.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations including OSHA, EPA, fire codes, and aerospace-specific quality systems (AS9100, NADCAP, AMS2750, FAA).
  • Maintain facilities and systems to support cleanroom environments or other specialized manufacturing areas as required by aerospace processes.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and facility condition assessments.
  • Oversee contracts and relationships with service vendors, contractors, and utility providers.
  • Negotiate service-level agreements (SLAs) and ensure accountability for performance and cost.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to align maintenance efforts with operational goals.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of facility or equipment failures affecting production.
  • Support Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery strategies for the facility.
