About The Position

The Director of Estate Planning Services leads the department’s legal staff and serves as the firm’s primary technical resource on estate and trust planning matters. This role advises Partner teams and clients on estate planning strategies, reviews and interprets client estate plans, and provides ongoing education to internal staff on relevant legal developments.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required; active bar admission required
• Eight or more years of estate and trust planning experience with a law firm, bank, or trust company
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

• LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning
• Experience in a wealth management, RIA, or family office environment

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise and guidance to Partner teams and clients regarding estate planning principals
• Reviews estate planning documents and communicates key provisions, implications, and recommended updates to Partner teams and clients
• Identifies and recommends estate plan updates in response to changes in client circumstances, applicable law, or firm guidance
• Prepares clients for estate planning discussions and the implementation process, coordinating as needed with clientProvides education for clients to prepare them for discussion and the implementation process with their Counsel’s independent legal counsel
• Serves as a subject matter resource for internal staff through ongoing education on estate and trust planning principles and relevant changes in law
• Maintains current knowledge of estate and trust law developments through continuing legal education and professional engagement
• Adheres to firm policies and fiduciary standards, acting solely in the best interest of clients
