About The Position

Reproductive Freedom for All (Formerly NARAL Pro-Choice America) is seeking a Director of Equity and Culture to lead and implement the organization’s Wellness, Learning and Development, Internship and Fellowship programming. This role focuses on organizational health, partnering with the Vice President of Equity, Culture, and Talent to build infrastructure and address staff wellness, engagement, and sense of belonging. The Director will execute aspects of future planning to embed equity and inclusion in all organizational activities. This position is ideal for someone experienced in value-driven work, strong in planning and execution, project and program management, and people leadership. The Director will be the anchor of Wellness and Belonging, working with the Senior Director of Talent to ensure staff have the necessary tools and resources throughout the employee lifecycle.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience creating, implementing, or directly supporting values-driven work, to include diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in organizational settings.
  • Knowledge of data collection systems used for surveys and data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of data based methods of building and maintaining trust in an organization.
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills with experience in developing and mentoring staff.
  • Strong operations, project management, and event planning planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to proofread final products and the written products of others.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Experience in or demonstrated ability with conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with others within the department and across the organization.
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Knowledge of learning and development systems like ACORN.
  • A personal passion and demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission and an understanding of the reproductive freedom issue.
  • High cultural competence and the desire to engage with individuals with differing lived experiences.
  • A commitment to creating a workplace environment in which diversity is valued and supported and a demonstrated ability to support others in doing the same.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the creation, revision, and management of internal processes and protocols that allow for equity through transparency and consistency across the organization.
  • Collaborate with employee working groups to help inform the work of the Equity, Culture, and Talent Department.
  • Develop and lead in the execution of the organization’s Wellness Plan and Learning and Development strategy, to include workshops and managing the internal and external heritage month celebrations/programming.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Talent, devise tools to assess the cultural health of the organization and translate responses into actions and measures.
  • Support the development of a work environment that encourages innovation and reflects the expectation of excellence.
  • Lead the implementation of the bi-annual culture and climate survey, including data collection, assessment, and analysis to develop recommendations for the Executive Team.
  • Work in collaboration with the VP on creating structures to assess and measure organizational health.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Talent, engage in efforts to support staff wellness, to include ensuring support for staff during milestone and transition periods, and while staff take leave. Work with the VP to develop redundancies in each department.
  • Direct, supervise and manage the Equity and Culture Manager, the Equity and Culture Program Associate, and the Equity, Culture, and Talent Associate providing ongoing guidance, direction and support; delegate appropriately and ensure strong internal communication and coordination; evaluate performance and provide opportunities for comprehensive professional growth.
  • Create and support an environment that welcomes differences of opinion, promotes respect for others, and fosters trust and cooperation.
  • Support the Department’s confidential labor management relations work as directed by the General Counsel and COO.
  • Lead the development of the organization-wide Learning and Development plan with use of the Learning Management System.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Talent, create and facilitate leadership trainings for Associate and Deputy Directors to include foundational training during staff onboarding, annual refresher training, and deep-dive training series– including content curation and creation.
  • In collaboration with Department Directors, collaborate on relevant values-driven and professional development trainings for staff, themselves, and their teams, to include unconscious bias and working with diverse communities.
  • Lead the planning and execution of virtual and in-person events, including the annual all staff retreat.
  • Where appropriate, manage relationships with outside vendors and consultants.
  • Lead by example in setting high performance standards for self and staff.
