About The Position

The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for enhancing the overall Resident experience through the provision of exceptional management and training of housekeeping staff. The Director of Environmental Services ensures all areas of the community are neat, orderly, and welcoming for guests. The attention to detail and cleanliness of the community is paramount in delivering the level of service Grand Living promises to its residents and their family members. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch® friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, resulting in a very high level of resident satisfaction. The department provides housekeeping services and upkeep of all public areas and resident apartments, including oversight of laundry. The Director of Environmental Services position is under the general guidance of the Executive Director in accordance with Community’s standards, processes, procedures, practices, and philosophies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Five or more years of housekeeping or environmental services experience, required.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language sufficiently to communicate with Residents, guests, and fellow employees; to explain and record Resident requests, comprehend work requests, differentiate individual linen use and care, product labels, Community communications.
  • Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms overhead to perform cleaning tasks, and work in narrow and confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push or pull carts weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management or another similar major or Culinary Diploma, highly preferred.
  • Higher Level Degree (Associates or Bachelors), highly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience, highly preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge with floor cleaning machinery and maintenance to include VCT tile stripping and resurfacing, and carpet cleaning and stain removal, highly preferred.
