About The Position

The Director, Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) is responsible for leading, directing, and continuously improving Team Housing Solutions’ (THS) enterprise safety program across construction, temporary housing, basecamp, and federally contracted operations. This role provides oversight in high-risk, geographically dispersed environments, ensures regulatory and contractual compliance, and drives a consistent zero-harm safety culture across all THS operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in place of a degree
  • 7 years of construction industry safety experience in active field environments (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of safety experience supporting federal government contracts (required)
  • Experience managing safety programs in multi-site, geographically dispersed, or deployed operations
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring Safety Managers or equivalent safety leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience with incident investigations, workers’ compensation, and insurance coordination
  • OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction (required)
  • Active CPR and First Aid Certification (required)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor
  • HazMat / HAZWOPER (40-Hour)
  • Ability to travel extensively and work on construction sites and operational facilities throughout the United States at a level of 50%.
  • Ability to independently perform field safety assessments, including walking job sites, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing active construction areas.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, federal contracting safety requirements, and construction safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Govern THS’s enterprise ESH framework across all operational environments.
  • Develop, standardize, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and expectations aligned with OSHA and federal requirements.
  • Serve as the senior safety authority and advisor to executive and operational leadership.
  • Ensure consistent application of safety standards across all regions, sites, and contract types.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and strengthen safety maturity.
  • Align safety governance with THS quality, compliance, and risk management objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal contracting safety requirements, including PWS provisions and client mandates.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical operational controls in partnership with the operations team.
  • Lead safety readiness for client audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party reviews.
  • Serve as the primary safety liaison for federal clients, regulators, and oversight entities.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update safety programs as required.
  • Oversee daily enforcement of safety programs, regulations, and safe work practices across THS job sites.
  • Ensure safety compliance for direct-hire employees, subcontractors, vendors, and all site personnel.
  • Lead and oversee incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations to identify root causes.
  • Support Human Resources in managing Workers’ Compensation matters.
  • Ensure timely, accurate incident documentation, reporting, and partner with Human Resources who will implement appropriate corrective action .
  • Escalate unsafe conditions and intervene, including stop-work authority, when necessary.
  • Manage, mentor, and lead team of ESH Managers.
  • Develop and deliver weekly safety reports summarizing incidents, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze leading and lagging safety indicators across all operations.
  • Review and verify required safety training, certifications, and qualifications for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure certifications are current, valid, and appropriate for work performed, including Qualified and Competent Person requirements.
  • Oversee compliance with specialized safety training (confined space, fall protection, electrical, hoisting/rigging, hazmat, asbestos).
  • Support standardized safety dashboards, records, and documentation.
