About The Position

The Director of Enterprise Risk Management assists the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management in administering and coordinating the College's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program. Working under the direction of the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management, the Director coordinates enterprise risk activities, facilitates institutional risk assessments, monitors risk mitigation efforts, supports business continuity and emergency preparedness initiatives, coordinates insurance and claims administration, and promotes a culture of risk awareness throughout the College. The Director serves as the operational administrator of the College's Enterprise Risk Management Program and exercises authority only as delegated by the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management. Executive responsibility for enterprise risk governance, strategic direction, policy approval, insurance strategy, crisis leadership, executive reporting, and institutional risk oversight remains vested in the Vice President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Safety Management, Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in enterprise risk management, compliance, internal audit, emergency management, safety, insurance administration, higher education administration, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ARM, PMP, or similar.
  • Experience working in higher education, healthcare, government, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting accreditation, enterprise risk management frameworks, emergency management, insurance administration, or internal audit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management in implementing and maintaining the College's Enterprise Risk Management Program.
  • Coordinate enterprise-wide risk identification and assessment activities.
  • Maintain the College's Enterprise Risk Register, monitor departmental risk mitigation plans, track corrective actions, and provide periodic status reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Prepare risk analyses, summaries, and recommendations for review by the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Monitor emerging institutional risks and communicate significant concerns to the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Support departments in identifying operational, financial, strategic, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Coordinate institutional safety initiatives in collaboration with Facilities, Public Safety, Human Resources, Student Affairs, and other departments.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, compliance reviews, and safety assessments as assigned by the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Coordinate implementation of enterprise risk management policies, standards, and procedures approved by the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with academic and administrative departments to strengthen institutional risk awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to support enterprise cybersecurity risk assessments, technology resilience initiatives, and data governance activities.
  • Coordinate periodic institutional and departmental risk assessments.
  • Conduct or coordinate operational reviews, site assessments, and self-assessments.
  • Assist departments in evaluating risk likelihood, impact, mitigation strategies, internal controls, and operational processes.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), analyze institutional trends, identify emerging risks, and recommend improvements to strengthen organizational resilience.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise risk dashboards, performance measures, and supporting documentation for executive review.
  • Administer the College's centralized process for reporting, documenting, and tracking risk-related incidents.
  • Coordinate the collection of incident information from departments.
  • Monitor trends and prepare reports identifying recurring risks.
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management with investigations involving operational, safety, compliance, or institutional risks, as assigned.
  • Maintain confidential records related to risk management activities.
  • Track corrective actions resulting from incident investigations and monitor implementation until resolution.
  • Coordinate meetings of the Risk Management Committee under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Track committee recommendations, assigned action items, and implementation of approved initiatives while providing periodic status updates to the Vice President.
  • Support the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management in coordinating activities of the Crisis Management Team.
  • Maintain crisis management documentation and resource materials.
  • Assist in coordinating emergency exercises and tabletop drills.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the College's Crisis Management Plan.
  • Coordinate after-action reviews and monitor implementation of corrective actions following emergency incidents or exercises.
  • Support continuity of operations during emergency activations as directed by the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management in administering the College's insurance and claims management programs.
  • Coordinate insurance claims documentation, property schedules, certificates of insurance, underwriting submissions, and renewal information.
  • Maintain insurance records and loss histories.
  • Serve as liaison with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Monitor claims activity and prepare loss trend reports for executive review.
  • Promote awareness of enterprise risk management principles throughout the College.
  • Assist departments in understanding institutional risk management expectations.
  • Support institutional compliance initiatives related to risk management.
  • Coordinate the collection of documentation requested during internal audits, external audits, accreditation reviews, insurance inspections, and regulatory examinations.
  • Analyze institutional risk information and recommend operational priorities to the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management to support informed executive decision-making.
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management in coordinating the College's Business Continuity Program.
  • Support departmental continuity planning.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities.
  • Assist with tabletop exercises.
  • Track corrective actions from emergency exercises and after-action reviews.
  • Maintain continuity and emergency planning documentation.
  • Coordinate periodic reviews and testing of departmental business continuity plans to promote operational resilience and readiness.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual enterprise risk management reports for the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Monitor departmental progress toward risk mitigation objectives and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate enterprise risk management records and supporting documentation.
  • Develop executive dashboards and briefing materials summarizing enterprise risk trends, mitigation activities, and institutional risk indicators.
  • Prepare executive briefing materials, Board committee reports, and presentation materials for the Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management, as assigned.
  • Analyze enterprise risk trends and prepare strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making and institutional planning.
