About The Position

Reporting to the AVP and Chief Technology Officer, the Director leads all enterprise technology operations across both infrastructure and applications aligned teams, spanning support for capital projects to networking to business-critical applications and data services. You'll be a key strategic partner in decisions that touch every corner of campus — from student-facing services to research computing to the ongoing Cal Poly and Cal Maritime integration. Requirements

  • Progressive IT leadership at scale.
  • Eight or more years of increasingly responsible management experience, ideally in a large and complex organization.
  • Demonstrated accountability for enterprise infrastructure reliability, security, and service delivery.
  • Hands-on experience leading cloud adoption and integration, particularly AWS, alongside on-premise services.
  • Familiarity with X-as-a-Service models and platform modernization strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience applying ITSM and ITIL frameworks to service planning, incident and change management, operational performance improvement, and metrics-driven accountability.
  • A track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams and managers.
  • Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to translate technical strategy into institutional value.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships.
  • Ability to represent IT in campus, CSU system-wide, and external engagements.
  • Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in computer science, technology or related field.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to 4 years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
