About The Position

Director of Engineering Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National; Opelika, AL Join one of the Southeast’s premier resort destinations and lead the engineering operation behind an exceptional guest experience. At the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National, we’re looking for a strategic, hands-on engineering leader who can protect and elevate our resort assets while building a high-performing team culture. As Director of Engineering, you will lead all aspects of resort maintenance, asset protection, capital planning, renovation projects, and preventative maintenance initiatives across the property. This is a highly visible leadership role that directly impacts guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and long-term property performance.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of hotel engineering operations including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, and life safety systems
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams, budgets, preventative maintenance programs, and capital projects in a resort or full-service hotel environment

Nice To Haves

• Marriott hotel engineering leadership experience strongly preferred
• Technical or mechanical engineering background highly valued

Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering and maintenance operations across the resort, ensuring exceptional performance, reliability, safety, and guest satisfaction
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance, capital improvement, and long-term asset protection strategies for the property
• Oversee major projects, renovations, vendor partnerships, and contractor relationships while managing budgets and operational costs effectively
• Drive innovation and operational efficiency through proactive troubleshooting, energy conservation initiatives, and implementation of best practices
• Build, develop, and lead a strong engineering team through clear communication, accountability, coaching, and hands-on leadership
