About The Position

Simpro Group is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the teams building the next generation of their AI-powered field service software. The company has launched Simpro Group Lightning, an AI intelligence layer that deploys autonomous agents across field service operations. Headquartered in Miami, Simpro Group has been transforming how trades and field service businesses operate since 2013, serving over 2,200 high-growth businesses. Simpro Group Lightning represents a significant advancement, offering AI agents that function as virtual business partners, trainers, documentation specialists, and customer success functions. This is a senior in-person leadership position based in Miami, responsible for the entire engineering organization of Simpro Group's product suite. The role involves embedding an AI-First engineering culture to enhance engineer capabilities, accelerate delivery, and improve customer outcomes. The Director of Engineering will report to executive leadership and play a crucial role in shaping the technical future of the company.

Requirements

  • Proven track record leading high-performing engineering teams at scale.
  • Experience building, growing, and developing engineering organizations.
  • Genuine conviction about AI in engineering and experience moving teams beyond AI as a curiosity to AI as a core capability multiplier.
  • Strategic technical depth to engage credibly with senior engineers on architecture.
  • Experience with SaaS product companies and understanding of how engineering decisions impact product and commercial outcomes.
  • Comfort navigating hybrid environments combining legacy systems and modern platforms.
  • Strong presence and communication skills; ability to lead in person and build trust quickly.
  • Ability to make hard decisions with clarity.
  • Collaborative approach, partnering well with Product, Commercial, and wider leadership.
  • Willingness to travel to various offices globally including Colombia, UK, Canada, and Australia.

  • Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing engineering teams.
  • Drive a culture of ownership, craft, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop engineering managers and create clear career pathways.
  • Champion the integration of AI into every layer of how we build.
  • Partner with Product and the C-suite to shape the technical roadmap.
  • Balance velocity on new capabilities with architectural health across a hybrid legacy and modern stack.
  • Translate business goals into clear engineering priorities.
  • Oversee the continued migration from AWS EC2 monolith toward AWS EKS microservices.
  • Make architectural decisions that protect reliability and security while enabling rapid innovation and scale.
  • Own engineering velocity, quality, and predictability.
  • Build processes and metrics for fast, sustainable development.
  • Attract and retain exceptional engineering talent globally.
  • Be a key voice in shaping the technical future of the business.
