About The Position

Emerald Resource Group is seeking a Director of Engineering with strong experience in mechanical and manufacturing to join a growing company in the Cleveland, Ohio area. This is a direct/FTE position with a salary range of $190k - $220k plus bonus. The company has experienced significant growth over the last 10 years and is looking for a leader to be part of its automation and forward-thinking manufacturing and design engineering efforts. This is the top engineering role in the company, reporting directly to the C-suite and owners. The Director will own the engineering portfolio and resource management across multiple disciplines and sites, leading through functional managers responsible for Design Engineering, Product Testing, and Fixture Engineering. The role includes direct leadership of the Fixture Design Engineering team and indirect oversight of broader engineering functions. The Director is accountable for building a scalable, disciplined engineering organization that supports long-term growth. Experience working with privately owned companies is preferred, and candidates from highly bureaucratic, siloed, large enterprises may not be the best fit due to the collaborative nature of this role.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years at the Manager/Director level.
  • Design for Manufacture experience.
  • Continuous improvement experience.
  • Recent history (last 5+ years) of managing resources (direct reports).
  • Must want to work within an automation and forward-thinking manufacturing and design engineering role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Product & Production processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of Bill of Material structure (BOM).
  • Thorough knowledge of CAD.
  • Thorough knowledge of Industrial and consumer products manufacturing.
  • Thorough knowledge of Automotive aftermarket industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of QA techniques and tools such as statistical process control.
  • Thorough knowledge of 8-D problem solving techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of product testing.
  • Understanding of LEAN principles & organizational procedures.
  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Strong preference for a local, Ohio based candidate.
  • Having experience working with privately owned companies is a major preference.
  • Having experience in automation and forward-thinking manufacturing and design engineering in recent history may get you an audience.
