About The Position

WMUR TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH, has an opening for a Director of Engineering. The Director of Engineering will lead the station’s technical and operational teams and demonstrate the ability to organize, plan, manage, document and complete assignments within a live broadcast environment. You will work in collaboration with department heads and directly oversee the daily operation of the station. We are looking for a leader with experience in broadcast excellence and teamwork, a passion for serving the local community and the ability to embrace the challenges and opportunities of an evolving industry. You will report directly to the General Manager.

Requirements

Five or more years of experience in broadcast operations.
Three or more years of management experience.
Strong knowledge of broadcast engineering systems, station operations and regulatory requirements.
Ability to lead teams, manage priorities and resolve technical issues in a live broadcast environment.
Related military experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

FCC General Class License, SBE certification or related technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and schedule technical and operational staff.
Oversee studio and field equipment that supports broadcast and on-air program streams.
Manage the daily operation of the station, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Monitor multiple on-air channels while maintaining regulatory compliance and quality control.
Lead budgeting and capital planning for engineering and technical operations.
Support the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of studio and field equipment.
Oversee IT integrity, infrastructure and related technical systems.
Maintain transmitter, satellite antenna systems, automation, signal distribution and routing systems.
Demonstrate working knowledge of television maintenance, FCC requirements and licensing and OSHA guidelines.
